Enhancing Australia's Biodiversity

An Extractive Industry Policy

CCAA has assembled an Priorities Statement that identifies a range of actions that the Governments across Australia can take to improve biodiversity outcomes while recognizing the unique nature of our sector and the role we play.

Our approach on biodiversity is set within this context:

  • Minimise the environmental impact of extractive operations, and where possible, achieve a net positive benefit to biodiversity, sustainable land uses and other environmental values;
  • Progressive and stage onsite rehabilitation and ongoing buffer enhancement throughout the life of the quarry;
  • Achieve the best biodiversity practices for the betterment of the community, the industry and the environment in which we operates; and
  • Develop the industry’s capability in biodiversity management, through professional development, stakeholder engagement, technological advances and training.

This Statement was also provided with CCAA's submission (April 2020) to the Australian Government's second independent review of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act 1999. You can read the submission here.
