Cement Concrete & Aggregates Australia (CCAA) congratulates the Hon. Tom Koutsantonis MP on his appointment as Treasurer, the Hon. Emily Bourke MLC on her appointment as Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, the Hon. Kyam Maher MLC on his appointment as Deputy Premier, and the Hon. Lucy Hood MP as Minister covering the Climate, Environment and Water portfolios.
“Mr Koutsantonis has been a key figure for our industry, and we have worked productively with him over many years in his capacities as Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, and as Minister for Energy and Mining”, said Michael Kilgariff, Chief Executive Officer, CCAA.
“We welcome the continuity his ongoing leadership brings to Energy and Mining and look forward to engaging with him as Treasurer on the broader economic settings that affect South Australia’s growth.
“Minister Bourke takes on the infrastructure and transport portfolio at a time when South Australia has a $25.6 billion infrastructure pipeline over the next four years with significant demand for housing, transport and renewable energy projects.
“A priority for the new Minister should be the development of a Heavy Construction Materials Plan, to ensure the industry can provide the volumes of cement, concrete and aggregates required to meet the State’s needs. This will be essential to delivering infrastructure on time, supporting housing supply and enabling renewable energy developments.
“CCAA also congratulates Kyam Maher on his appointment as Deputy Premier and looks forward to working with him in this important leadership role.
Mr Kilgariff also thanked outgoing Treasurer, the Hon. Stephen Mullighan MP, for his constructive engagement with the industry during his time in the role.
“We particularly acknowledge his work in delivering South Australia’s first concrete road, the Northern Connector, a milestone project that demonstrated the durability and long-term value of concrete pavements for the State.
