Cement Concrete & Aggregates Australia (CCAA) has welcomed the South Australian Government’s 2025–26 Budget, highlighting its continued investment in housing, schools, health, and renewable energy infrastructure.
CCAA has also reiterated that the success of these projects will depend on ongoing collaboration between industry and government, including on a Heavy Construction Materials Plan. Working together will remain key, to ensure the affordable and timely supply of the essential materials that underpin the state’s growth.
“We commend the South Australian government’s commitment to long-term economic development and liveability, but the affordability and timely delivery of these projects hinges on securing a reliable supply of construction materials,” said Michael Kilgariff, Chief Executive Officer of CCAA.
The Budget includes funding for high-impact initiatives including:
- The $552.4 million housing package, delivering around 2935 homes, requiring over half a million tonnes of aggregates and more than 53 cubic metres of concrete per home;
- The $15.4 billion Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Project, which will use nearly 1.1 million cubic metres of concrete;
- The new $3.2 billion Women’s and Children’s Hospital, with 84,000 cubic metres of concrete;
- $656.3 million over 4 years for capital works to deliver upgrades between the Swanport Bridge on the Princes Hwy and Truro on the Stuart Hwy; and
- $80m for Main South Road upgrades
- CCAA warns that without a coordinated plan for materials supply, these projects face cost pressures and delivery delays.
