Cement Concrete & Aggregates Australia (CCAA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Melinda Pavey as the organisation’s new State Director – New South Wales.
Melinda brings over two decades of public service experience, including as NSW Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight, and Minister for Water, Property and Housing. Her work across critical infrastructure portfolios gives her a unique understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the heavy construction materials sector.
“Melinda’s experience in the Roads, Freight, Water and Housing portfolios gives her a unique understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our industry,” said CCAA Chief Executive Officer, Michael Kilgariff.
“With her background in small business and media, and more than 20 years of community engagement as a Member of Parliament—including five years as a senior Minister— Melinda is a valuable addition to our team.”
As NSW State Director, Melinda will lead CCAA’s advocacy across government, industry and member committees, with a strong focus on ensuring a sustainable, reliable and costeffective supply of cement, concrete, and aggregates to meet New South Wales’ future infrastructure and housing needs.
This includes protecting access to strategic materials, supporting efficient freight logistics, modernising planning frameworks, and promoting investment-ready policy settings.
“Our industry lays the foundations for the nation’s homes, apartments, subdivisions, industrial estates, roads and the multi-billion-dollar infrastructure spend nationally,” Mr Kilgariff said.
“Greater Sydney alone will require hundreds of millions of tonnes of quarry materials over the next decade to support its growth.
“We must secure local supply chains, reduce transport emissions, and improve regulatory approvals to keep critical projects on track and costs manageable.”
